Server Information
Q: What dedicated server would you recommend?
A: Recommending a server is a very hard thing to do - it depends on
your requirements, what it's likely to be used for, your budget etc...
Generally speaking, the more complex and interactive the site(s) you are
looking to host, the more powerful and more expensive a server you will
require. While we can't recommend a specific server or configuration, we'd
be happy to offer some advice and suggest some possible solutions to you -
please feel free to contact us and ask!
Q: Will my server be able to do X, Y or Z?
A:
As above, this is a very hard question to answer - it again depends
entirely on what the server will be used for, and also, your knowledge and
experience. If you are using your server to provide hosting services using
the cPanel/WHM control panel, then our full management service covers the
setup and configuration of standard software relating to the use of a
server for this purpose.
Q: Can I upgrade my server?
A:
Yes, you can upgrade your server either when ordering or after your
server is deployed. Common upgrades that are available are additional
memory, a second hard drive, port speed upgrades, bandwidth upgrades and
server management - these can all be ordered and added after your server
is deployed. Please see our 'extras' page for more information.
Q: How much bandwidth do I get?
A:
Depending on which server you order, and when you ordered, your
server may have a 1000gb, 1500gb or 2000gb monthly bandwidth allowance.
Q: Where can I see your terms of service and acceptable usage policies?
A:
These can be found in our legal section.
Q: What operating systems are available?
A:
We offer several operating systems. Linux distributions include
CentOS Fedora, Red Hat and Linux. We can also offer
FreeBSD and Open BSD; in addition to both Windows 2003 Server Standard and
Web Edition. If you want your server deployed with one of the above
operating systems or a 64-bit version, but it isn't available on our order
form, please contact sales for assistance.
Q: What control panels do you offer?
A:
We offer cPanel/WHM, Plesk, webmin, Virtuozzo, and DirectAdmin control panels.
Network Information
Q: Can I request additional IP's?
A:
Additional IP's can be ordered in blocks.
You can order as many blocks as
you can justify in one order. Full
justification is required for all additional IP's. Justification must be
compatible with ARIN rules surrounding the issuing of additional IP's.
Read Justification rule here
Q: Can I host adult content on your network?
A:
Yes. As long as you are hosting legal adult content, there is no
problem.
Q: Is IRC/IRCd allowed on your network?
A:
No. We do not permit the use of IRC on our network.
Q: Can I host a Bittorrent tracker on your network?
A:
If you wish to host a bittorrent tracker on our network, you must
first contact us for approval. Permission is only given where we can be
assured only legal content will be tracked.
Q: Where can I find out more about the network?
A:
We have detailed information on our networks, available from our 'network' page
Support Information
Q: What does self-managed mean?
A:
Self-managed servers are where we are responsible for only the
network and hardware of your server. We will also ensure that your
operating system is correctly installed when your server is deployed, and
that you can connect to the server via SSH. All software and configuration
issues relating to the operating system, control panel or other
services/software on the server are your responsibility and Proaxxs does
not offer support for these with a 'self managed' server. See the next
question if you need help with the software and configuration side of
things.
Q: What happens if I need help with my server? Do you offer a management
service?
A:
Yes! Most servers we deploy are managed. If you order unmanaged
server and then need server management, we would be happy to offer our full server management service
to you. Please see the 'extras' page for information on this service &
pricing information.
Q: I'm sell web hosting, can you give my clients
support?
A:
Yes! We would be happy to offer you Complete Server Management
which includes end user support. Please see the 'extras' page for
information on this service & pricing information.
Q: How do I reboot my server?
A:
If you ordered a fully managed server, our management team will
monitor your server and reboot if necessary. We also provide you with a
password protected reboot service page, or you may submit a ticket to
support and they will do this for you. If you ordered an unmanaged server,
we will provide you with the password protected reboot system to reboot
your server as needed.
Q: How do I order an OS
reinstall?
A:
If you need an OS reinstall, you will need to submit a tickets to sales in
the members center. OS reinstalls are billed at $65 per hour - they will
normally run $40 - $95
Q: How long does it take to do
an OS
reinstall?
A:
This normally will be finished within 24 - 48 hours, depending on data
center workload and os being reinstalled. Keep in mind that not all
departments at the DC are open 24/7. To speed up your order, please
indicate which of the following options you will require: Option 1.
You need assistance with data recovery for the rate of $65.00 an hour. We
cannot guarantee full, or even partial, recovery should the server(s) data
be corrupted or compromised, but will work to the limit of our abilities
to restore data. - Option 2. You need to reinstall on a new hard
drive, mount the old primary drive as a slave and allow the customer to
retrieve/restore data. After 72 hours the physical drive will be removed
from the re-installation. - Option 3. DC may reinstall on the
current primary/new hard drive, all necessary backups have been completed
successfully by the customer. The customer will retrieve/restore data
without assistance from Proaxxs. --- If you have a fully managed server by
Proaxxs, please let us know as most all fees will be waived for admin
work.
Q: Can I put a rush order
on my OS
reinstall?
A:
We can ask the DC to put a rush order on an os reinstall, however this is
not guaranteed. This is completely out of our hands, and in the hands of
the data center.
Ordering Information
Q: How long will it take for my server to be setup?
A:
For our standard servers, setup time is normally 24-72 hours after
confirmed payment, depending on workload and server configuration. If you
order a custom built server deployment could take longer.
Q: Do you need a copy of government issued ID? Do I need to sign any
forms?
A:
Due to the nature of our business and high rate of fraud, we will
require you to submit a paypal or 2co authorization form, which may
include providing a copy of valid identification.
Q: Do I need to sign anything to pay via Credit card?
A:
If you are paying us directly with a credit card, you will need to
complete a credit card authorization form and include a copy of
government-issued photographic ID, including your name and address. You
will be contacted once your order is placed with instructions on how to
send us these items.
Q:
What do you mean by
Flexible payment options?
A:
With our flexible payment options you can "buy down" the monthly cost of
renting a server and save you a ton of $$$ in the long haul. It is similar
to buying down points on a mortgage to get a better rate. Do some
calculations and see for yourself! The flexible payment option is
especially beneficial for you if you plan on renting the server for an
extended period of time, usually 5-7 months or more.
Q: If I don't go with
your flexible payment option, does this mean I pay more?
A:
NO! Our normal price is already a great price, but you can save even more
by selecting our flexible payment option, simply by paying a setup fee.
Our profit margin on a flexible payment option is very small, and we could
actually lose money if you keep your server for a long time and in effect
you save a lot of money. We want long term clients and we are willing to
make a small profit to accomplish this.
Billing, Payment & Cancellation
Q: When will I be billed?
A: When you
purchase a dedicated server or other service from us, the first period's
fee and any setup fee will be due immediately. Invoices are pre-dated by
one day to insure quick build times with the DC and to avoid some billing
issues. For monthly services, you will be billed every month - e.g. if you
sign up on 2nd March, you will next be billed on 1st April. For yearly
services, you would be billed one year later - if you purchase a service
on 2nd March 2007, your next bill will be due 1st March 2008.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A:
We currently accept Paypal payments and 2co for dedicated servers,
including credit card payments through Paypal and 2co.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A:
We require notice of cancellation at least 7 full days before your
renewal date. For example, if your renewal date is June 8th, you will
need to contact us no later than June 1st. Note: You MUST cancel at least
7 days prior to your billing date or your next billing cycle will be due
an payable, as we are automatically charged by the DC - NO EXCEPTIONS!
Q: Do you have a refund policy or money back guarantee?
A:
No. All payments to Proaxxs for dedicated servers, or additions are non-refundable (except as noted in
our terms and conditions).
Q: Is there a minimum contract period?
A:
No, there is no minimum contract period - all of our services are
month to month.
